Hospitals Complete Joint Operating Agreement

32nd Annual Spirit of Achievement Dinner Honors Six New Mexico Citizens for Community Contributions

More than 250 people gathered on May 22 to honor six outstanding New Mexicans for their contributions of time, talents and resources at the 32nd annual New Mexico Spirit of Achievement Awards Dinner. The event was held at the Embassy Suites Hotel Albuquerque and raised more than $45,000 for the nation’s leading respiratory hospital, National Jewish Health, bringing the amount raised since the inception of the dinner to well over $1 million.

Clinical Trial Results Signal an Advance for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

DENVER - After a string of failed clinical trials in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, the results from studies of two experimental medications signal progress in the treatment of this deadly disease, according to researchers at National Jewish Health and around the nation. The trial results were presented May 18 at the 2014 American Thoracic Society annual conference and simultaneously published online in the New England Journal of Medicine.

More than 200 people attending the inaugural Cocktails with Class on May 17 raised over $40,000 to benefit the Morgridge Academy, a free, unique kindergarten through eighth-grade day school for chronically ill children located on the campus of National Jewish Health. Cocktails with Class guests enjoyed panoramic views of the Denver skyline from DaVita World Headquarters’ spacious penthouse terrace, 14 stories above the 16th Street Mall.

National Jewish Health Welcomes First Steps at Regulation of E-Cigarettes

National Jewish Health welcomes the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) initial efforts to protect the health of Americans, especially young people, by regulating e-cigarettes as well as other tobacco products. The FDA’s proposed rules appear to be a good first step at asserting authority over e-cigarettes’ production, sales and marketing, but more stringent regulation will be needed in the future.
