Pediatric Section - Weinberg Clinical Research Unit

The Department of Pediatrics actively participates in industry-sponsored clinical research in the Pediatric Section of the Weinberg Clinical Research Unit. Stanley J. Szefler, MD, directs this program and has coordinated investigations of medications intended for the use of children with various medical disorders, especially asthma, atopic dermatitis and food allergies, as well as rhinitis and sinusitis.

The clinical faculty of the Department of Pediatrics participate in this program and provide expertise in study design, protocol adherence, patient education, data analysis and presentation. Leaders in the fields of allergy, immunology, pulmonary medicine, and clinical pharmacology are available to assist pharmaceutical firms and manufacturers of medication delivery and monitoring devices in the design, implementation and interpretation of clinical studies intended to improve the care of children.
