Patient Education
Patient education is individualized for the patient and family at National Jewish. Through individual instruction, group classes, and educational materials, patients and families are taught self-management techniques. Equipped with important knowledge and tools, patients are able to participate in the management of their disease, reducing unnecessary physician and emergency room visits.
National Jewish offers a variety resources for patient education that include:
Small, interactive classes to help adults and children learn about a variety of diseases and self-management techniques. The classes are free for National Jewish patients. People from the community can attend the classes, although there is a small charge.
The Understanding Booklets are an educational health series provided by National Jewish. The series is friendly, state-of-the-art, and informative. Booklets are given to NJ patients, and can also be ordered free of charge.
The Asthma Wizard Activity Book is a fun and informative way for children ages 5 – 12 to learn about asthma. You can order the book for $5.
The mission of the Child Life Program at National Jewish is to help children, teens, and family members cope with illness, treatment, and the overall healthcare experience.
