The Information Services & Technology department at National Jewish Health is currently seeking a Manager, Technical Support to supervise general support team design, implement, operate, and support computer and Local Area Network systems required to meet the needs of the administrative, clinical, and research computer users at National Jewish.


  1. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors and rewards.
  2. Manages/supervises and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Directs in-service and continuing education activities for staff. Monitors staff safety compliance and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as needed.
  3. Evaluates staff performance regularly and determines merit increases, promotions and disciplinary actions.
  4. Tracks the system administration function of all IS managed systems, networks, and desktops by the network, server, and desktop administrators.
  5. Collaborates with other Information Systems personnel in the design and implementation of computing resources to ensure that all group activities related to National Jewish computing are compatible.
  6. Monitors operational procedures of computer and network users. Make recommendations of changes to procedures that would maximize the use of existing computer and networking resources.
  7. Coordinates assigned computer and network projects with vendors, suppliers and contractors to ensure timely and appropriate project completion. Coordinate installation of network cabling with Plant Services based on individual user needs.
  8. Monitors the trouble ticketing systems and assigns tickets to staff members as appropriate. Servers as the escalation point for tickets that are not resolved in a timely manner.
  9. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and good customer service skills.
  10. Performs as a back-up to staff absences and vacancies, as necessary.
  11. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing with computer users. Demonstrated expertise in networking personal computers with other workstations or servers using current technology. Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and routine daily maintenance needs with a high degree of efficiency. Ability to assimilate new computer and network technologies and relate them to the needs of National Jewish. In depth knowledge of the configuration and operation of: Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, UNIX, Mac OS; Network Protocols: TCP/IP, SMTP, ICMP; Network Design/Operations: DNS (Domain Name Services), DHCP, TCP/IP; segmentation and subnetting.


Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business information systems or other related field required.

Work Experience

A minimum of two (2) years recent and related experience in system design, management of servers and desktop computers.
