
Do you have difficulty with shortness of breath , coughing or difficulty exhaling? Early Symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, known as COPD, include shortness of breath and coughing. It is estimated that 16 million Americans have symptomatic COPD, and it is considered a serious health problem in the United States. COPD doesn''t develop suddenly; it comes on very gradually, after years of exposure to the irritation of cigarette smoke. National Jewish Health Health is conducting a research study on a type of medication for the treatment of COPD, called a long acting bronchodilator. The medication is experimental and has not been approved by the FDA.
To be eligible you must:

Be 35 years of age or older

Be a current or ex-smoker

Have a previous diagnosis of COPD
This research study involves up to 6 visits over six and a half months.
Study participants will receive physical examinations, lung function measurements, ECG''s and study drug at no cost. In addition, qualified participants will receive financial compensation for time and travel.
